The campaign isn't just following one familiar hero through another covert operation. One side puts you with Private Park, a young South Korean soldier thrown into trench fighting and collapsing front lines. The other follows Captain Price, now outside the system and hunted by people who want him stopped. That split gives the story a sharper edge. You're not only chasing villains. You're watching a regional disaster spill into New York, Paris, Mumbai, and occupied cities that have to be taken back street by street.

Modes and platforms are clearer than usual No last-gen version, and DMZ is back

Modern Warfare 4 ships with Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ. That last part matters, because plenty of players have been waiting to see whether the extraction sandbox would return in a proper premium release. It does. You'll be able to deploy solo or with a squad, grab military tech, choose your own risks, and leave before the map chews you up. The game is also skipping Xbox One and PS4, which should help the maps, visuals, and performance targets feel less tied to old hardware.

Multiplayer launches with 12 new 6v6 maps, plus larger battle spaces built around infantry and vehicles. The messaging is all about grounded gunplay, cleaner movement, and giving players more control during fights. That's marketing language, sure, but it points to a slightly less floaty feel than some fans worry about. The Xbox listing also points to cross-platform play, split-screen support, keyboard and mouse on console, 4K, HDR, VRR, 60 fps and 120 fps support, depending on setup. On Xbox console, online multiplayer still needs Game Pass Essential.

Editions, bonuses, and the usual fine print Vault Edition is the big spend

There are Digital Standard, Digital Vault, and Physical Standard editions. The Standard digital version includes the game, Open Beta Early Access, and the Hunter Killer Operator Skin. The Vault Edition adds operator packs, five Signature Weapon Collection items, one season of BlackCell, and a DMZ Deployment Bonus whose exact contents still haven't been shown. Physical copies exist for Xbox Series X and PS5, but not PC, and physical buyers can't upgrade into Vault. Digital Standard owners can upgrade later for $30 in the US, while eligible returning Call of Duty players may see a 10% Vault Edition loyalty discount before launch.

What players still need to watch Beta dates and PC specs are still missing

Some important bits are still blank. We don't have exact beta dates, the full map list, perk rules, killstreaks, or proper PC specs beyond TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, an Activision account, internet access, and possible extra storage for updates. There's no confirmed Zombies mode either, so don't treat search trends as proof.
